On 1/21/04 RIAA sued 532 alleged unauthorized uploaders of copyrighted music. The alleged infringers averaged 800 songs apiece. RIAA filed the actions as “John Does” providing internet addresses in place of names.

eBay has just settled its differences with Tumbleweed Communications Corp. Tumbleweed had sued the web-giant for infringement of its patented technology for sending personal links via email. Tumbleweed had previously settled with other heavyweights like American Greetings and Hallmark. eBay settlement involves a cross-licensing of technology between Tumbleweed and eBay. No other details of the settlement, including the settlement amount, have been released.
